Tadori Japanese is built on open Japanese-language data. Every source is listed here with its license. Where a source asks for particular wording, that wording appears below exactly as its authors asked for it.
Dictionary data
JMdict - 30,136 entries, revision 2026-08-05
These files are the property of the Electronic Dictionary Research and Development Group, and are used in conformance with the Group's license. JMdict is made available under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0 International license.
Copyright in the underlying dictionary files is held by James William Breen and the Electronic Dictionary Research and Development Group. Kurouto Digital claims no copyright over that material.
Only one dataset is listed because only one is currently shipped. Others are planned, and each will be added here in the same release that adds its data - a licenses page that credits data the product does not use is not a more generous page, it is a wrong one.
Typefaces
Set in Source Sans 3, with Zen Kaku Gothic New for Japanese display text. Both are licensed under the SIL Open Font License 1.1. Serving a webfont is redistribution, so the license travels with the file:
